North Las Vegas City Council Unanimously Approves SunCal Development Agreement for Park Highlands West Master Plan

NORTH LAS VEGAS, NEV., (June 24, 2014) – The North Las Vegas City Council unanimously approved on June 18 a request by master developer SunCal to approve a new development agreement for the 600-acre Park Highlands West community.

Park Highlands West was part of the overall Park Highlands master plan that was originally purchased by a consortium of builders for $635 million in 2006. Last week’s Council action divides the area into stand-alone West and East master plans. SunCal, one of the largest real estate development companies in the U.S. that specializes in large-scale, mixed-use master-planned communities, purchased 208 acres of the partially developed West property in 2012 and will also serve as the master developer for the entire 600-acre project.

“We’re very pleased to be working closely with the City to move this development forward,” said Frank Faye, SunCal Executive Vice President. “This approval will significantly expedite the development of the Park Highlands West master plan.”

Park Highlands West is one of the last remaining large-scale development opportunities in the Las Vegas area. It offers future residents easy access to job centers in Summerlin and the casino area via the recently complete I-215 beltway south of the project and Highway 95 located three miles west of the site.

The project site is bordered on all four sides by existing residential and retail developments. Area amenities include a regional shopping center, a new hospital and a casino that includes a movie theatre and numerous dining outlets.

SunCal acquires, entitles and develops major residential properties and commercial developments. The company creates distinctive master-planned and mixed-use communities that emphasize quality of life, environmental sensitivity and recreational opportunities. SunCal is one of the largest real estate development companies in the U.S. that specializes in large-scale, mixed-use master-planned communities, and has offices in Irvine, Calif.; Northern California; New York City; Washington, D.C.; Las Vegas; Denver; Austin, Texas; Savannah, Ga.; and Melbourne, Fla.
