Golfers Tee Off at Nicklaus-Designed Course Along Potomac Shores

Potomac Shores Golf Club, an 18-hole, par-72 course along the banks of the Potomac about 30 minutes south of Washington, is open for play. The course was designed by Jack Nicklaus — his first public course in northern Virginia. Course superintendent David McGregor says it’s not a challenging round, it’s fun.
The property was designed and constructed about nine years ago, but the original developer ran into problems when the economy crashed.
Among the first golfers to take in a round were Rick Young and Nick McCormick.
The Potomac Shores community will include more than 3,800 homes, a marina, two public schools, more than 15 sports fields and courts, and a town center.
