Opportunity
In 1996, General Motors (GM) shut down its major vehicle assembly plant in North Tarrytown, New York, after an 82-year run. The loss of thousands of jobs and millions in tax revenue sent a shockwave through the local economy. The 97-acre riverfront property sat in limbo and the village, now known as Sleepy Hollow, struggled. For 17 years, the site attracted prospective developers for its Hudson riverside potential. Yet plans stalled and the site stayed in limbo.
In January 2014, SunCal and Diversified Realty Advisors, LLC, stepped in on a joint venture to launch Edge-on-Hudson’s $1 billion redevelopment plan. The vision for a new mixed-use, transit-oriented urban destination takes advantage of a prime location just 25 miles from Manhattan, two walkable Metro-North train stations and unrivaled views up and down the Hudson to the Tappan Zee Bridge and the city skyline.
